We made it back from camp in one piece! We had a great time. I really hated to leave, but Princess Der had to dog-sit for a neighbor from Sunday until Wednesday. So I plan on heading back Thursday.
I took a few pics. When you enter the campgrounds, you drive over a pond- well actually on the road that goes over the pond….There is a rock wall about 2 ft high on each side of the road. To the right, you can see a fountain in the pond:
The pond is not really a place to swim, but the campground has a pool and a beautiful area surrounding it- a table with an umbrella, plenty of lounge chairs with cushions and side tables.
But back to the pond. Just before you cross the pond, there is a pathway that leads into the woods. Several hundred feet into the woods, there is a wooden bridge that crosses the pond and goes over to a small island.
Because dogs need to be chained at your campsite, we took several walks a day. We would often walk to the bridge and go over to the island.
On the other side of the campgrounds there is another path into the woods- that one is pretty long. We walked there several times as well.
The campgrounds is right down the road from the fire department (which my dearly departed dad would approve of!). The fire department has Lawn Mower races every Saturday night.
Ron has gone to the races once or twice in the past with some friends, at a different location. I had never been. So Ron and I walked down. The princess stayed at camp with a new friend.
They were so cool! They started out with the kids in their go-karts- some were pretty souped up!
As you can see, this is serious stuff! We stayed for most of the race- we left a little before the end as our legs were killing us. Next time we bring the lawn chairs.
Speaking of next time- they have a BIG race next weekend, so we are going to try to get a bunch of friends together and “party it up” at camp and the races.
Ron had to work for several hours on Saturday. The Princess met a friend when I took her to the pool, so she had someone to hang with for the rest of the weekend.
While Ron was gone, I raked the lot, chopped a bunch of wood for kindling, then buried our electric line. Dave, the maintenance guy offered to bury it, but I’m like , “Oh no, I’ll do that!”
Like I’ve said in the past, we really don’t know how to relax…..
I was attempting to keep the fire going all day. We like to cook meals on it and it keeps mosquitoes away. As I was fighting to keep the thing going (the wood was a little wet…) I couldn’t help but think how houses burn down from a single hot ash dropped from a cigarette, and whole forests can burn down the same way…yet I can barely keep a fire going that has 12 hours worth of coals at the bottom! I did manage to keep it going….
They have a rec hall at the camp, too. Every weekend they do something special for the campers. This past Saturday was Root Beer Float night. We missed it because we were at the races and The Princess and her friend forgot to walk up at the appointed time.
Next weekend is Halloween! The kids dress up, have a parade and a party. We will have to bring Little Man (the grandson) provided we can get a hold of his mom. She’s playing games with my step-son again- not answering the phone and such…..We haven’t seen the little guy in about 3 weeks! I think it’s time for the stepson to go back to court.
Ron just came home from a road call and said he heard it’s supposed to be in the 90′s this week! I think we may go to camp for a few hours one day this week. It’s only 19 miles from home, so it’s no further than one of the beaches….
Anyway, I must go and get some work done, or I won’t be going to camp this weekend! So far, I can’t get Internet there, although I’ll admit I didn’t try too hard this weekend….
Until next time…..
